View Full Version : Audi 2.0 - Cutting out when cold

My 2.0 Audi (AAD engine) cuts out some mornings approximately 5 - 10 minutes after starting when I get to a junction and declutch. It immediately starts again and doesn't do it twice (though after it starts again the revs are about 1200rpm for a short time). The temp sensor is new VAG, I'm pretty sure the ISV is fine. My local Audi specialist said there is a fault (a code showed up) but he can't exactly say where - maybe the CSV - but this wouldn't make it cut out.

Can anybody tell me about the auto choke - is there one? What about the rev switch below the throttle body (don't know the technical name)?

Any help really appreciated - thanks

Thanks for the tip - I will try and ghet hold of a new CSV.

The guy in the VW/Audi specialist said the fault code could be the CSV - starting is actually poor unless it hasn't been run for a day or two? But why would the CSV cause it to stall when warming up - surely it only fires when the car starts for the first time? Does it inject after the initial start as well?

I put in another CSV and all seemed to be well until this evening when it reverted back to poor starting (I could smell fuel - flooding?). Unfortunatley it's mechanical injection so there is no MAF (?). Could the CSV be clogging up / could I have got another duff one - unlikely I think? Could low fuel be a possible cause - it does have a new Bosch feul pump.

Thankyou for your help - may try and find out what the fault code was.

I just got my local specialist to pull the fault code off and it's : 005870 - adjustment limit mixture (intemittent). I'm told it's most likely an air leak or the CSV (which I just replaced with another one). How do I track down an air leak - it's obviously very small if there is one. Thanks
