Hi,

I'm very, very strongly considering purchasing my first Audi soon and would appreciate some advice.

What I'm wanting to know is; is it really worth buying the 2.7 V6 TDi or should I save a few quid a year on VED and settle for the 2.0 TDi.

For what I can make out is, there's not much difference in top end speed between the two and the 2.7 appears to only be just under a second quicker off the mark to 62!

Is there much difference in the interior spec.......are there the same options available for the two?

I shall be looking at buying secondhand, probably 2005/2006.

Thanks for reading :)

I've not driven either, but I'd expect the 2.7 TDI to have much greater torque at motorway speeds for overtaking. Okay, 0-60 the time might not be much different, but the time it takes to go from 50 to 90? I think that's where you'll notice the difference. :)

I've only driven the previous generation A6 TDIs, the 1.9 and the 2.5.

I have the A6 2.0 tid and am a self confessed speed freak but saw the A6 as a cruiser. On long motorway miles it just eats them up....lovely!!
Pretty quickly realised that from stationery turbo lag was pretty bad and got it chipped from the std 140bhp by Audi up to 176bhp. This is very close to the 2.7 figs of 180 bhp and has sim ilar torque figs as well.
The fuel economy is greatly improved also and I've had some runs at 720 miles to a tank:approve::approve:
So , either get the 2.7 to start with or I'l guess and ay that if you get the 2.0 you'll soon look at chipping her to improve the turbo lag from standstill.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do

Jim

Thanks for your input guys. Having considered both those things, which make perfect sense and realising that I was looking at figures for the 2009 2.0, the figures for 2005-2008 2.0 are significantly lower, I shall definately stick with my initial decision, go for the 2.7 and take a hit for the extra £80/90 pa on VED ;)
