For the desperate.
It's possible to undo the three 10mm bolts which fasten the loop for the catch to the bonnet from the front of the car through the gap above the grill, the hardest bolt to reach being the one at the back in the middle where you need to hold the head of the ratchet spanner onto the bolt with a screwdriver and push and pull the other (open) end of the ratchet spanner with another thin ring spanner.
I only know this because I've done it with a Magnusson ratchet spanner. :D
It also helps to have someone else shine a powerful torch in there.
