An "alloying" question

Hi all,

I have a 96 A6 2.6 (100 shape) and I am thinking of getting new alloys for the car as the old ones have started to bubble a bit.

I quite fancy the special edition 16 inch A3 alloys from about 2007 or 08? They look sensible in my car.

Just want to ask whether I am correct in saying both PCD is 5X112? I am a little curious about the offset - A3 being 45 to 50 and A6 being 35 to 42. Should I be worry that they won't fit?

Offset is very important as it sets the axis of rotation of the wheel and can effect steering geometry, some of the effect are very noticable. Add to this the clearance to the caliper and the shockers then you need to get it right. You will also by rights have to inform the insurance company of the "modification" who will no doubt charge you a loaded premium. The charge 5% for tinted rear windows. Regards Peter

Thanks Peter, would the longer offset of A3 wheels be cured by using 10mm spacers to compensate the shorter offset on A6's?

Spacers will compensate for the bigger offset but then the longer bolts and spacers cam cause the wheel not to fit symmetrically, specialist spacers with inherent concentric hobs are the way to go. Regards Peter

I was thinkin about wheel spacers for my A6 too......just to give it a wider meaner squat appearance.
Deffo HUBCENTRIC wheel spacers are the way to go though......check on Ebay.....just type in hubcentric wheel spacers Audi and they'll come up for you

Just had a look at my alloys - they are factory fitted ones, and they are ET45? Seems a little weird since most A6 have ET35 to ET42 alloys?
