Can anyone provide me with trade specific names of engine oils for a Mk V Golf GTI 2.0T DSG?

I understand that it needs to be generic standard 503.00 or 504.00 but have difficulty finding these numbers on any engine oils in local garages.

You should be looking for 504/507 specific oil. Millers,Fuchs Comma amongst others produce oil which will cover what you need

The Mk V GTI uses 507.00 which as per VW approved long life oil is Castrol SLX III which is a 5W30 oil. On longlife servicing intervals however the intervals are set at 30000kms-2years and the instrument panel on your car would need to be coded to oil quality 2 = longlife setting which then activates the oil quality sensor in your sump! It would depend on how hard you drive your car as to when your service indicator would come on as it is determined by your oil quality, the harder you drive the quicker your oil gets dirty, the quicker your service indicator lights up! Whereas at oil quality 1 setting it is 15000kms - 1 year intervals and doesn't require long life oil.

Do any of the major oil companies, e.g. Shell, Mobil, Castrol, etc. produce an oil to this specification?

Halfords do one - 2 litres for £19.99. I suspect it will be made by some company like Millers or Opie. It comes in a greeny blue bottle for the 504.0/507.00 spec for VW's. They also stock Mobil and Castrol variants of the 504.44/507.00 which are £15.99 for 1 litre

it's not a big name brand like castrol or shell.

IIRC, FUCHS do a 507 grade oil and opie oils is always running an offer/discount.

failing that, why not try the quantum range, usually only available to trade, but available from main dealers or trade contacts.
