I have decided to take the plunge and go for the front skirt for the new GT............... VW website informs me that its £214 rrp but it does not say if this includes painting and fitting.................. Any ideas on what to expect to pay locally?

Just to nit-pick, I dare say that the part doesn't include paint and fit and this looks like a part for a MK5. Would you also not want to get the side skirts too?

Might be worth just calling the dealer to see if they'll give you a bit of a discount and get the bits in and fit them before you collect it.

It will deffo fit the mk 6 as I have seen others with the front skirt and side skirts dealer fitted :)

Here are two examples I know of ..................

Called the dealer who has my GT sat in the yard waiting for me to collect next month. He is calling me back with a price :)

Is that a GT - it looks like it needs to be a lot lower...

The front spoiler looks different on the mk5 to that of the mk6... are you sure its the same and that it will fit?

(personally, I think the side skirts would finish the looks of the car off and make it look smarter)

Isn't the silver one in the top picture a mk5?

It's different to the white one (no inserts on the white)

With the headlights being different shapes I don't see how a bumper could be interchangable between models.

The very top pic is from the VW website, but clearly offers it as an accessory for the MK 6............ Of course the webmaster has probably not got round to updating the pic yet to that of a MK 6.............. Anyway the dealer has said no probs they can get it fitted just waiting on the price :)

Had not considered the side skirts but yes begining to think that it is a must!

Depends on cost really as the budget is getting stretched! lol Could always fit them later but its nice to get it done at the same time eh!

Make sure you are clear what you are buying!
The first pic looks to be clearly a different skirt than the ones on the Mk6's you show later.
Note the 3 horizontal vents in the centre of the skirt - The ones on the Mk6's look much cleaner and less fussy to me.
But I agree, they do finish off the look of the Mk6's (my personal preference is for the side skirts ahead of the front bumper).

Right, finally got to the bottom of it!

Below are the correct part numbers and cost to supply - Note this does not include labour costs or fitting!

Front Skirt Golf VI 2009>
Part no: 5K0071609GRU
Cost £230

Side Skirts Golf VI 2009>
Part no: 5k0071685GRU
Cost £305

:)

Have told the dealer to come up with a more attractive price for me :)

This might be why you don't see many cars with them! It's not at all cheap, eh?

Well its either give in or buy my wheels first and wait until someone brings out a MK6 bodykit of some similar form................... :( Its hard enough as it is scouring the net looking for people that do MK 6 modifications.................... :( ****!

May be worth contacting the company below, who are specialist for the Caractere body kits ((http://www.caractere.com (http://www.caractere.com/)), I'm sure they have one in the pipeline for the Mk6.

Follow up from my phone call..............

Hi Griff

Sorry to disappoint you... Caractere will be launching a kit for the Mk VI, but not yet... we haven't been given any idea yet as to either pictures or prices.

Anyway, dealer kits aren't that bad... the kit for the Mk V Golf is a Caractere kit that we sell to Volkswagen Group (UK) Ltd!

To be fair to dealer... £900 isn't a bad price painted and fitted. Our Golf V kits retail (painted and fitted) at approximately £3,000...

£3000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! having a laugh :(

I'm liking these kits, but is it me, or does this kit make the Scirocco look like an Astra from the side?!

Well if the kits cost £3000 plus then I would not be interested what they look like!
