Hi all, My econ light won't go off and am hoping its just a aircon gas refill needed. Only had the car 5 months and have never felt it was that cold, only on "lo" did i really notice it working. Its 2002 model and I cant see any reference in service manual to indicate any refill ever being done. I live in Dublin and not many garages will do it. Audi quoted me 160euro + vat but I found a mobile guy who specialises in the auto aircon. I rang him and he's quoting me 80euro + vat if I go to him,(not that far).

My only query is that he mentions that because the econ light has turned on that when he refills it the computer will need to be reset using the vagcom in order for the car to turn off this econ light. As usual he has a "mate" round the corner who can do it!

Is he right in this reset?

I was considering doing it myself with one of these diy kits off ebay as it mentions audis in the list.40euro approx. Just need to know how accessible the valve needed is and what is the proceedure as I see a few youtube videos say to run the engine at same time to check pressure but how can I check pressue if econ is stopping the compressor.

Any advice welcome.... Many thanks

When the system is regassed they should vacuum it to test for leaks.
It will not need to be reset with vagcom.
