I would appreciate the help on the below read out of the VAG-COM diagnosis report.

Fault Description: Flashing PRNDS, 2004 GOLF GT TDI DSG 140 BHP.

Fault Code from VAG-COM:
1 Fault Found:
18012 - Internal Control Module: Output Driver IC Error
P1604 - 000 - - - MIL ON

Initially the fault was intermittent, i.e. would disappear randomly, short term workaround was to reset the fault codes or to disconnect the battery to reset the electrical circuits, however now the PRNDS lights flash continuously and although I am able to put the car into various gears the car simply doesn’t move in any direction.

I am unable to locate fault code 18012 on the following website:

I called Ross-Tech and they informed me the website is not updated with all fault codes and the best thing to do was to post on this forum for a quick response.

mechatronics defective,fluid leakage onto the circuit board in the gearbox.Personally when i see this type of fault its a straight forward gearbox replacement.
Best advise take to Vw and get them to check gff test plan for the fault code

Faulty Mechatronic unit, £1300 plus fitting or a new box at £3.5K plus fitting.

A VAG indi will be able to do the work IF they are experienced with DSG’s, the parts will cost the same but the labour will be less. Using genuine parts will still give you a two year dealer backed labour inclusive warranty.

out of interest what would the value of this car be if sold with this known fault? i am considering all options repairing & keeping it, or even selling it in its current condition. i am open to sensible offers. i am hoping theres independents out there that maybe carry out the work themselves and either keep the car or sell on for a profit.. any feedback appreciated..

folks i have confirmation from vw that the issue is with the mechatronic unit which requires replacement, i am considering selling the car in its current condition. im hoping there is an independant out there that can take the work on and make a reasonable profit, open to offers pls msg me.
