I have an Allroad 2000 diesel, it needs a general service and checkup,

More importantly there is a problem with the wheel sensor wiring. I have replaced the wheel loom that South Hereford told me was the problem but the symptoms persist - brake pad warning light and intermittently the height-lock (orange) light comes on even though the height can still be manually controlled. I also doubt that the four wheel drive system is working because when one wheel starts to spin I don't go anywhere and there is no indication at all of the wheel being held from spinning (due to the sensor wiring?)

I am prepared to pay to get the problem checked out and fixed (if I can't do it myself) but not at South Hereford Audi prices.

I do know some good independent VW/Audi places but may be a little far for you to travel, there is a good one in Lichfield called Mackenzies, may be worth giving them a call and sound them out to see if they can help you.

If anyone else knows of independents in West Midlands/South Wales (I am near Abergavenny,Hereford) please post the details.

you could give NG cardiff a ring vw specialist. Done allot of work on a mates quattro (a4) seem to no what are doing.He sings their praises. www.ngmotors.co.uk. ive never used them car in warranty. cardiff audi always very expensive, if you havent, ring sinclair audi bridgend, they are always half the price of cardiff main dealer.i have used them(bridgend) and have no complaints.

Try Westec in Newport, Leeway Ind Est.
They do VAG servicing and performance tunning.

For an idea on their prices,
Today, They quoted me £250 to have cam belt changed on my A4 1.9 Tdi.
