I am a new user to this forum...

I have a VW Bora SE TDI 90, 2001 model.
A new cambelt has been fitted last year.

On a cold start, there is a lot of smoke given out. Once the car has started, i do not see the problem with smoke during the day.

The car has just gone though an annual service at Citygate at 63000 miles.

Any suggestions...

when you say a lot of smoke...what colour and does the smoke appear when the engine is under load? eg when one flooring it on the m.way?

I only see black smoke when the car starts on a COLD start.. do not see smoke otherwise while driving...

I only see black smoke when the car starts on a COLD start.. do not see smoke otherwise while driving... sounds like a typical diesel startup to me, could indicate perhaps natural wear on the engine, might need a techies input on this one, but im confident that if the smoke doesnt appear at any other time than on COLD starts... id just put that down to general diesel engines....

remember, every diesel smokes a little...its a dirty fuel and even the most new, refined Mercedes would smoke...
