I am after peoples opinions please if a good aftermarket cam / timing belt kit such as continental should give the same life expectancy as the proper VW at nearly double the price.

I am replacing the timing belt on my 1.9tdi with the AVB enigne.

Also replacing the water pump and radiator, I know people have mentioned not getting a waterpump with a plastic impellor but again should I go VW or not.

Are their any other bits I need to complete the job, torque bolts, locking washers, gaskets parts that shouldn't be replaced. I have got the locking tools.

Cheers

I'm sure you'd be more than fine if you get the parts from somewhere like Euro Car Parts or GSF. I bought my waterpump with a metal impellor from GSF and when my passat went in to a vw specialist for a cambelt kit, I saw an invoice from camberley autos for the part! Don't know about your engine and other bolts/gaskets, I'm sure someone will chip in with some advice.
