I a set of four a month ago, and hold them in high regard. They came out late last summer, so are the latest technology.

My Passat came with Dunlop 200E tyres, I replaced them with Pirelli P7s. The car was miles better with the P7s, better roadholding especially in the wet.

Just had some 18" Bridgestone Potenza R050A run flats fitted. Broke the bank, but fare better than the naff Maragonies that where in there to start off with.

Damn thing used to follow the grooves in the road...

 that would mean buying some new rims if I used the 18" one's you quote

I'll have a look for some 15's :D

pirelli powergy are worth a look if your doing 40k on a set, just a question, how the hell do you get 40k from a set!! every time you meet a corner do you jack the front up and pull it round the corner with a trolley jack so you dont scrub any tread off? :biglaugh: i did 7k on my last set of falken 912's, but done 13k ish on my powergys and they are still 4-5mm, way better than the brie like qualities of the falken 912's

I got 38k on the front and 60k on the rear with Dunlop SP Sport 200E on my 2005 B5 Passat 100 TDi Highline. Not as good as a previous Bora which gave me over 50k all round but I did rotate front to back half way and no I don't jack up the front to get round corners...but maybe I could.........

presume your doing motorway miles a lot, i dont hang about but i dont drive like a corsa driver either, thats a truly great figure for a set up front :beerchug: might look into getting some, doing less than half the miles i was now, probably less, got limit of 8k but could put it down to 5k i reckon now im living in stafford and hopefully getting stafford job too

I like Toyo's for price and performance/longevity.
proxies cf1 are good but they do higher performance tyres.

I use Continental Premium Contact 2 to repalce my Dunlops. Dunlops are a bit more responsive, wear quickly but are less comfy and more noisy compared to the Contis.

I prefer the Contis, but it depends what you like.

I think Autocar did a recent test - the conti's were good, but overall the Goodyear Hydrgrip got top spot and are cheaper.

You clearly don't go around corners!! The 130TDi seems to eat fronts - Of 4 people I know who drove one, none got more than £20K on the front, whatver the make of tyre
