2004 / 54 Registartion

Car as above (2004 2.0 TDI 140 / DSG) has a fault with the engine management light coming on. The gearbox lights / indicators on the dashboard are constantly flashing and the car will not move anywhere.

It happend last week but the car still drove, it was then reset by a friend (at VW !) but the fault has returned and the car is not unmoveable ??

Please help......

Sounds like another very expensive repair bill unless you've some sort of warranty.

Good luck.

VW will be checking and diagnosing this week, the RAC in the meantime have advised of a generic fault code P0702 / Transmission issue.
The short term RAC fix was to disconnect the battery and connect again which clearded for about 2 days !!

Thanks.

Sounds like a problem with your multifunction switch F125 (or F189 can't remember which for sure)which is integrated in your gear selector surround! If this is the case it will need to be replaced and they are a little pricy! Here in NZ they cost about $380 NZ Dollars. The gear selection in your dash display flashes when this has a problem and throws the vehicle into limp home mode!

hi the exact fault code from vag-com = 18012

as desribed below.

1 Fault Found:
18012 - Internal Control Module: Output Driver IC Error
P1604 - 000 - - - MIL ON

any idea if the f125 is responsible for this?

thx

That doesn't sound good! Looks like your control unit is fried! And as it is intergrated in the Mechatronics is a very pricy part indeed! Sorry I can't give you better news but if an error like that comes up it's going to keep coming back as at least one intergrated circuit is having problems!
