Hi

I have looked through the forums and still I am not sure when a CAM belt needs changing on the Audi S3. In the service book it says 112,000 miles yet general opinion is 60,000. I recently took it for a service at 56,500 and no one methioned the CAM belt and they just crossed out the section in the book.

Many Thanks

This belt is a bit of an unknown. If you are worried about it then get it changed. With having 20 valves the last thing you want to do is for this to break:zx11:
I get my cars serviced from a very good VAG specialist (independant), he checks mine every service. If it starts to look iffy then it will be changed. I think the 112,000 is some sort of recommendation but its not the be all and end all, if it looks dodgy or your worried get it changed

its every 4 years or 40,000 miles. It might be 5 years but better to be safe than sorry

On the S3 210bhp APY it is 80,000 miles or 4 years whicherver is sooner although replacement before this time is advised as this is the absolute maximum periods in ideal conditions.

Audi reduced all CAM Belt changes to ever 60K due to the issues with the BOSH belts back in 98-99....
