2001 1.9tde se with 84k on clock.
I have owned the car for 2 months and up to now the car has been serviced by main dealer VW and is fully stamped up. I will be doing about 30K per year in the car and it is due a service in 1500 miles.
Should I take it to VW main dealer or should I take it to local guy who is a VW/Audi specialist garage?
I am a little worried that the main dealer will go out of his way to find stuff wrong with it.

i drop my oil every 6k and change the filter . £ 30 . its recommended at 10k intervals .

a car of that age i think any decent garage would do a good enough service , considering whats entailed . this is just my opinion , at the end of the day its what you want .

my 130 tdi has 95k on the clock , 76k when i bought it 18 months ago and its never missed a beat as yet.

As long as the local VW/Audi specialist is just that then go for it, they are normally cheaper and if its like the one i use in Peterborough normally very good. I have been using the same one now for 4 years and have been very good.

If you are a stickler for having the VW stamp in your service book then use VW but my last Passat had VW stamps up to 60k and then my local specialist up to 133k when i traded the car in at a VW garage for another Passat. They looked at the service book saw it was stamped up to date and made no issue over the NON VW stamps.

I'd find a good independent, as far as i'm aware, having stamps in the book from a vw specialist will not invalidate your warranty. Dealers do go out of their way to find faults and even if I had the money to take my car there, I just wouldn't (I've worked in a dealer, I know what happens!!) Use the forum to locate a good garage, someone is bound to have recommended one near you.
