hi there

i have a 2005mk4 tdi130 which today displayed the engine workshop msg & has the flashing pre-heat lamp continuously.

i put my code code reader on but no codes were stored. the cruise control has stopped working however.

could this be a brake pedal switch related problem??

any thoughts appreciated!

faulty brake pedal switch definitely causes these warning lights to light up.

had this with mine - but I did get a code (16955) with my code reader

good news was a replacement switch was £5 and relatively easy to fit

thanks - i have a replacement switch so may change to see if this clears the fault.

i'm concerned by the absence of any code, does any one else have similar experience -- no code but MIL flashing?? :1zhelp:

thanks

I had the same problem, where I replaced the brake light switch, still no fix. I could have kicked myself! The previous week I changed the brake light bulb but put in a single element type instead of a dual element. This was the problem. What a D******d!

if you are using an obd only code reader, then this wont show manufacturers only faults, only obd faults.

Thanks - i will check all these other things. i think my code reader does all protocols but will double check
