Hi

I'm thinking of a set of Alloys for my new Golf so what do people think I should go for?

Neat thread - like the poll. ;)

Of course this type of poll is a very personal thing as I'm sure you know, but I really like the old style R32's (even though they look a pain to keep clean) and would have spec'ed them for my GT if I had had the option - which I didn't, but there ye go.

I bought one of the specialist VW magazines and was really surprised in how inexpensive 18" wheels complete with tyres were, the choice is remarkable.

Thanks I agree it is a personal choice, I take it when you said old R32's you mean the ones from 2003, they would indeed be hard to clean.

Still not sure really what to choose, am trying to persuade the dealer to take the 18" Vancouver from their showroom car and let me have them if I pay for them, but no response yet.

I should have really ordered them from the start, but wasn't thinking.

What is the best site to look at then for alloys that will fit the new Golf :) I am a big fan of BBS alloys used to have a set of 18" BBS CK's on my last car which looked awesome :)

Do you want replicas or originals? I have been informed that most alloys that fitted the MK5 will fit the MK6 as well.

Replicas I found a load here: http://www.lkperformancestyling.co.uk/alloys/replicaalloywheels.html

Originals esp BBS: http://www.performancealloys.com

Thanks for that :) Interested in any wheels that will fit to be honest as long as there is plenty of choice :) Either that or ill get the wheels powder coated in black :)

Funnily enough thats what I'm now thinking as well if I can't get the dealer to do a swap for 18" then I may leave it a while and get the Porto 17" standard wheels coloured, I was thinking going for anthracite colour myself.

Not sure if you need spacers moving from a 17" to 18" for the Golf...........

I don't think so if you get the right ET on the wheels

Thanks people , looks like the current R32 style it will be, unless the dealer comes up with the goods and says I can have the new VW style 18"s I should have ordered to begin with.

You can do what I did and use the Wheel Specialist to colour your wheels in any colour. Even the ones that I had done can be restipped and coloured by them :)
