As the title suggests, what power gains can I get through upgrades etc for the golf gt, this is my first golf as I have had a number of Focus ST's in the past and I got two of them upto 300bhp.

I know that the focus is a 2.5 petrol turbo engine and would of course not expect such power gains from the standard 225bhp to the 300bhp on that engine and try to compare against the Golf diesel 2.0 GT engine.

I had the following in order to upgrade on the ST petrol engines:

Powerflow exhausts system - nice burble
Uprated intercooler
Lowered suspension
Turbo down pipe
Induction kit
Superchips Level 3 (Including handset)

So any ideas to gain on the standard Golf GT 140 bhp diesel engine? Thanks:)

The only real thing on the market as yet is just the re-map;) .. That will see you to 180hp..

Wont be long before other mods will be about...

If you're after that much power, wouldn't you rather wait for the 170 GTD?

Has the 170PS TDI engine got much more remapping potential than the 140? Not sure if the 140 has the same piezo-electric crystal injectors as the 170.

I personally wouldn't bother - you can't use all that power in 1st or 2nd gear on a standard 170TDI (in the PD version at least). You cannot avoid wheelspin if you bury the pedal in 2nd gear, even in the driest conditions - so much torque there.

Agree its pointless having the power in 2nd and 3rd gear power is best served in the higher gears, not interested in first off the line just a good decent power gain across the range............. Sticking with the 140 and see what can be produced safely out of the diesel egine :)
