I have a 2003 1.4, which has started to run badly, revs drop down very low, and if running to a standstill will stall the car, when at idle the revs vary from 500ish to 1200ish,sometimes misses a beat when driving, this doesnt seem to be caused by damp, heat or cold running, and when its running ok, not a problem at all. still get decent mpg and always starts ok. Been to garage and they say no faults showed up, but been advised this may be the EGR valve. If so, can this be replaced without the need for "technicians".
