newbie needs help! i hope im in the right place?
my audi a4 1.8 se 1995 is giving me grief! in the milage window i have
def showing and the temp,rpm & speedo gone crazy!
please please somebody HELP!!!!!!

Hi i think you need a new instrument cluster def = default = replace dash insert.

will i need them rechipped? to my car.

Since the immobilizer control unit is not integrated in the dash panel insert on a 1995 a4 it's only a matter of replacing it.

have been to breakers today they only have in 96 insert do you know if this will do the job?
as my audi is 95.

I would say yes but there are two different dash panel inserts fitted on your car:
Midline: With Minicheck system
Highline: With driver information system (DIS)
And as of model Year 1998,the immobilizer control unit is integrated into the dash panel insert,so you don't need to worry about that issue
You may need to code it depending on the vehicle which it originates from,but this is no big deal
