when going from first to second gear low revs nice and steady i get get a judder then when the revs pick up it goes away.when towing our caravan it's even more apparent what could this be:mad:

Might be the duel mass flywheel. Put it in first and lift the clutch very slowly. See if you can feel it bite twice. First the clutch engages and a split second later the flywheel does because of play in the springs between the two halves. If you can feel this, you need a new clutch and flywheel. Lots of money so I hope I'm wrong.

I can confirm the above. I had a B5 TDI 130 that suffered the same problem at about 80k. Also had vibration at around 60 mph. I tow too - there lies the answer, I think. A DMF change is not cheap, sorry!

it,s only done 38000 56 plate

DMF should be good for 80 to 100k but town driving and towing kills them quicker. If your still not sure ask a mechanic to drive it.

Shouldn't that be covered under VW's guarantee? Isn't it three years in the UK?

i hope so vw dealer say it prob needs an adjustment:confused:

just had car in at vw im having new flywheel clutch under warranty how fantastic is that:D:beerchug:

vw said if i had to pay it would have been £650

It can cost £1200 including parts, labour and vat for the dmf and clutch. No doubt some places will be cheaper.
