VW Beetle Side Mirror

Hi I stupidly broke the drivers's side wing mirror assembly on my 2005 VW Beetle. The anchor holding the assembly has sheared but the mirropr and electrics are all Ok
Are there any repair tips? or is it a question of new asssembly and body shop repair?

The easiest solution would be to buy the assembly on ebay - plenty of choice the last time I had a look. Use a body shop as the casing needs to be sprayed as it is body coloured and buy yourself a Haynes manual to avoid the high labour costs which franchise or idependent dealers charge.
