Does anyone know how much I should expect to pay to get the rear bushes replaced on my 2001 5 door A3?

Im just after a 'rough ' estimate on how much the part costs and how long a competent mechanic would charge for labour time.

Cheers

Yikes.....didn't realise they cost as much! Better start saving then, is it basically the labour cost that increases the price (because they are time consuming) or was it the part itself?

Exactly the same issue with my 2001 A3, which I've just sold, quoted £265 at a very decent garage in north London.

It's definitely the labour that pushes the price up this high.

£300!!!!! Are we talking rear axle bushes?

I bought some standard bushes from Audi, £15 each and was charged £30 labour.

They stopped the knocking and car handles much better aswell.

Rear bushes and front anti roll bar bushes had to get done soon after. I phoned around a few garages and they said roughly the same and yes its coz it takes a while the price is quite dear. You can buy the kit (with tools) off of ebay for about £60 if you wanna have a go yourself.......

hi just did my ones the bushes were the steel case ones and were 30 pounds a pair the hard bit was putting them in and i had to borrow a tool to do the job from a friend but it tok 2-3 hours so if you were pay ing for time about £30 per hr + 30 parts is about right for a local job

I was quoted £150 - £250 by various VAG specialists in east London. They all said 3 - 4 hours, so the variation is due to their hourly rate.
