I have a 2003 tdi passat due its longlife service. Has anybody used Kwikfit or Nationwide autocentres for annual service? Can they be trusted?

Also has anyone managed to get a VW franchise centre to pricematch with the above?
My longlife service quote from VW is about £300, that seems steep to me.

I wouldn't want anyone to work on the car who wasn't totally familiar with that car. Dealer or specialist. I wouldn't go any where else unless they come very highly recommended.

I get the feeling you are going to get an awful lot of replies to this (which is a good thing) In my honest opinion you should find a local VAG independent . Let us know where in the world you are and Im sure you will get some help as an example I was quoted 265(VW) for my 1st service.I went independent and paid 149.94
I havent used either of the 2 you mention above so cant voice any opinion on an open forum:biglaugh::biglaugh:
word of mouth counts for a lot

I am based in Bristol - seems to be a shortage of independants. - Seems like a no no to Kwikfit.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Go to a local skoda/seat or audi dealer and ask for an oil/filter + fuel filter change and light reset (infact ANY garage SHOULD be able to do these lol) - approx £100 inc.

Go to a motor factor and buy an air filter/pollen filter - approx £15. Fit them yourself. 15 mins inc'.

Top up your washer bottle, thrash the car round a carpark for 30 seconds.

For the authentic feel stretch a binbag over the drivers seat.

Your service is finished for approx £115.03 (inc' bin bag.)

I use local Autocenters (Old Trafford), used them for last 10 years various cars etc and found them to be Ace...:beerchug:
Had a minor problem with a badly split CV boot very shortly after an MOT, wrote to the head office got a 50% refund off the repair and 50% off next MOT.
The're lined up for my cam belt change (AVF engine) £249 all in, local VW dealership £369 & to include water pump £503.....
