Hi folks,

New on this forum as i have just bought a 99 polo 1.4 CL (late Mk4 3 door) for my daughter it has 108K miles but nice little car, unfortunately No service history ! so for piece of mind thought i should get the timing belt changed.

Thing is do i need to get any other items for this vehicle ie; tensioners or guides or is this engine normally Ok with just a belt change ?

it also has the seemingly common problem of intermittent loss of power which i will clean the throttle body for & get ecu reset & hopefully cure, if not then probably try a distributor change.

Another item is that when started from cold there is no incresed idle speed ? which i have experienced with most fuel injected cars i have had in the past, is there a cold start valve or injector fitted to this vehicle that could be faulty.

Thanks

Fishy
