Hi everyone,

A very quick question that I am sure many of you could probably answer which is probably very simple.

Does the '89 scirocco GT have dashboard dial illumination? Now I would assume it would and I just need to change a bulb.

I have had a quick look and can't see any overhead buld so can only presumse it would be backlit, however, it looks like I would need to remove to the dash to get to it as the dial box doesn't look like it will just slide out.

Surely it shouldn't be this difficult to change a bulb? I have googled but can't find any mention of it anywhere. Any help would be much appreciated as I am tired of guessing my speed in the dark!

Cheers

Firstly the dash has a dimmer switch fitted for the illumination ( next to the main light switch), if that is okay the panel is back lit by 3 bulbs.
It will mean removing the dial surround and possibly the steering wheel then the whole panel comes out as one.
The only problem is disconnecting the speedo and two multi plugs .
DO NOT force the plugs or you will damage the flexible circuit board at the rear of the cluster.
