I have a 2008 2.0 TDI which i have had for about 3 weeks now. In that time i have found it rather gutless at pulling off unless you nail it. Is this normal or am i being a tool?

I did some playing today and found that in first gear sat still with the clutch down the car will not rev over 3000 revs, if i take it out of gear and bring the clutch up or turn off the ESP it will go to the redline. Is this normal also, if not VW will be getting a visit.

Kind Regards

Yes that is normal, the clutch pedal switch governs the engine revs.

Is it limited to the 2.0 then, as i tried the same thing in my fathers 07 1.9 TDI and clutch up or down, in gear or not it reved to the red line?

I thought it to be all models,as i said, when the clutch is engaged, the ECU receives, this information, and reduces the fuel supply.I may be wrong, wouldn't be the first time.;)

I dont know if something is going on, its started doing this with the clutch up now. Im sure that cant be right, could it have something to do with the almost dead pull off?

If you turn off ESP does the car drive normally?

No that seems to make no difference, as i wondered that at first. Its going in on saturday to have the lumpy idle looked at so i think ill add this to the growing list
