I have a 2004 GT TDI 140 with an occasional clicking noise coming from the glove box / passenger side area ???
I have heard that this may be a faulty motor flap - what does this mean ?

Any other idea's / suggestions please....

Usually happens when cold / first started and only happens occasionally - starting to annoy me now !!!

Thanks in advance.

Hi The fault is usually the recirculation flap motor,a part of the air conditioning system. If you have diagnostic equipment,a basic setting of the AC might help to cure the problem

Hi, many thanks for your help.
I assume that the recirc. flap is obviousy a mechanical part, how will the diagnostic equipment identify and fix this ??
I have noticed on this forum a diagnostics topic but unsure how it works ?
Would you suggest a main dealer or an independant specialist ?

Sorry for all the questions but ! Thanks again.

The flap motor is a combined electrical, mechanical unit.An electrical fault will usually show up on a diagnostic read out.Without going into technical details. The different systems have a control unit, when, there is a fault in the system, the fault is logged in the control unit,a diagnosis,is basically, retreiving the information, stored in the control unit, with the appropiate diagnostic equipment.(end of lesson):D Most workshops have the necessary equipment to preform a diagnosis.
