audi a4 tdi glow plugs

is the audi a4 tdi 1996 my glowplugs like the vauxhall vectra in that they only illuminate below a set temperature,the reason i need to know id my audi had its lights mucked around by the last owner,i have now got most of the lights working but there is a seperate bulb holder which at the moment i have plugged into the glow plug light (it is supposed to have a seperate bulb holder)but this means i dont have a EML,the EML position has no curcuit on the circuit board but the glow plug light does,the haynes manual wiring diagram is useless so any help would be appreciated

It should light momentarily,although the glow plugs wil not function over a certain ambient temperature.l
