Hi; Just noticed the lack of the welcoming wwhhoooshhhp from the fuel tank when switching on the ignition.
2002 TDi bug (ATD engine). Assume this means the tank pump is not pressurising the system. In all other respects the car starts/runs/behaves as she usually does. Anything to worry about?

It should run when the door is opened or when the ignition is turned on but not always, the system decides when it is required. If the lift pump fails you often don’t know about it until the fuel level is low and the pickup pulls in some air, then the engine stops and won’t re-start.

..hi crasher; thanks for prompt reply. Did wonder if this might be an issue. Implication is I suppose if I change the fuel filter also it'll be grief to start/prime/bleed. Better investigate. Again,appreciate your thoughts.
