Hi all,

I am looking to get a tailgate bicycle holder for my MkV Golf. I want to get the original bike carrier (http://www.volkswagen-accessories.ie/bicycle_rack_for_tailgate) (pictured below) offered through the VW afterparts network, but I would like to avoid paying dealer prices if possible.

Does anyone know who manufactures this particular bike carrier, or if it is available from any other source?

Contact Jason @ All German Parts. (hesa site sponser)

Tell i refereed you, he may be able to purchase it at trade from VW and pass some savings onto you.

Give him a try. (he also posts the item to you.)

Cheers

Just to follow up on this... Jason @ AllGermanParts was not able to help, nor could I locate the carrier from any other source outside the VW network.
But I did finally buy one from VW in Newry, NI for £300 (about €100 less than VW Dublin).

It is a lot of money for a bicycle carrier, but it does fit the MkV Golf perfectly.
Installation involves fitting transparent paint protectors, and is a bit of pain to tbh. But once attached the carrier is extremely secure and stable.
It also features a mechanism for locking the carrier to the car and/or the bikes to the carrier.

For anyone who is interested, the carrier is made in Poland and distributed by Votex GmbH as part no. 1K0 071 104. Knowing this might make it easier to source.

Hi hogwash,
The carrier holds up to two bikes.
