This is an important message for any one with a fsi golf or audi with a sudden power loss problem.we have had a golf with us with said fault that has been a real drama.but after going on many forums with hundreds of owners with the same fault we had, but no one seems to get to the bottom of it, but we have ,££it was a blocked petrol pump in the tank and a simple fixs the fault code we had was pointing at a fuel pressure sensor which was a big red herring.a previous garage had fitted noxs sensor, coil packs and fuel pressure sensor and lots of ££££££ but all it needed was a £90 pound pump and 5mins labour to fit

Sorry to sound dismissive but failure of the in tank lift pump on FSI models has been a well known and much covered subject for well over a year now. The fault codes point to the main pressure pump or rail fuel pressure sensor but it is the lift pump 75% of the time. There is a long and painful thread on here about this.

http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=36237 (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=36237)

It also affects the A3, Leon 2 and Octavia 2 with the same engines.

It has helped me as I have just bought a 2004 FSI Golf and have an intermittent sudden power loss. Other sites list off many things that have been done to remedy the problem. It was useful to see one helpful suggestion!

...and so you should, solving this issue once is simply not enough and will not be tolerated.

Kindly solve it again or find yourself another forum on which to post over ten thousand helpful posts, sponsor and be liked.

Poor Crasher! Can it be helped that you don't find the useful forum until after you've read a thousand other posts on other sites!
I think the real issue should be that all these Golf owners should complain to VW so they know there is a problem with the FSI.

Now, now Crasher,

Hasn't BigCol already warned us about things like this ... ?

With an ability to hug like that, you must have some innate footballing talent. I shall be recommending you to the FA :D.

A hate football and bad jokes…, just thought I would RAM that home :D

I'm not a huge football fan myself, but do find some of the mega international matches where talented teams are playing, mildly interesting.

Oops! I only do bad jokes, but with a pun as bad as that, I must admit defeat :notworthy.

However, I seem to have slightly derailed this thread (thanks DF, DH), getting back to this thread, it does show that "You can please some of the people ...".

Guys, i need a part number, seriously, read this thread and the one crasher said id't be the fuel pressure unit
is this the same thing as FUEL TANK SENDER UNIT & LIFT PUMP

alison29

I have started to complain, rang VW on - 0800 0833 914. I have a reference number (for what it's worth, haha) but it will take more than just me, I reckon you should complain too. Unfortunately they want me to take the Golf to a dealer and get it tested on their diagnostic so the result can be sent to their technicians in Milton Keynes. I'm gonna pursue this though!

Crasher

Is this a thread about fuel pumps? Anyway, so you want a part number so you can go and buy one on the cheap from fleaBay? The lift pump is in the tank and is referred to as the fuel delivery unit but the part number varies, early 2005 is 1K0 919 051 BE and costs £120 from VW and the later one is 1K0 919 051 BH which is £125.

strange you should say that we have had one come back yesterday from a customer that we sold a golf 1.6 fsi to , we sold it almost two years ago well out of warranty with us.She has been down the same road as most, coil packs, noxs sensor, and the good old fuel pressure sensor even a key and barrel how they came up with that i never no and lots of labour.I must addmit this truly did cut out as soon as you loaded the power up.We put a fuel pump in it from tps and we had a fixed golf with in 30mins.This poor lady had spent £1800 pounds trying to sort it and all it cost her in the end was £112 for the fuel pump and half hours labour, we done the job at cost as goodwill because she bought it from us in the first place. The gararge that she spent the £1800 with was in oxford we are based in kent so it was worth her getting it to us. By the way this car had done a mere 17,000 miles on a 54 plate
