Brake Calipers

Just wondering if anyone knows. I have just bought new pads for the front brakes, are the pistons in the callipers push in type or are they threaded and need to be wound in. I'm not changing the pads until the weekend so havent even pulled the wheels off yet so was just wondering what to expect.

Ohh by the way its a 97 A4 1.8 petrol Avant.

If it's front pads then you can push the piston back (use an oversized G clamp), the rears need to be screwed back using a special tool. You can use a modifed universal brake wind back tool. Best to get it on a 1/2 drive.:D

Many thanks, that was the answer I was hoping for, push back are so much easier for a DIYer without all the special tools.
