My father has recently bought a 1990 Audi Avant 23E, which has been mostly kept in the garage with occassional use. It is now stuck in his garage as the last time he attempted to use it, it got stuck in gear and shot forward, next time he started it, it locked in drive and cannot be shifted - is this likely to be a gearbox problem or diff problem or both? have there been known problems with this model? It has a NF coded engine and has done 70k miles - apparently its already had a gearbox overhaul in the past. He also has on older version - a 1988 22E with a KU engine - which he wants to use for spares - would anyone know if this would be compatible to swap over the gearbox and diff assuming this is the problem. Would appreciate any advice...
