Hi,

My first post here so please be gentle!

Have a problem with a 1.8T A3. The engine is hunting for revs and the brake pedal is rock solid. Its been to Audi and they want to replace the throttle pot at a cost of £440 but I cant help but wonder if this is going to solve the problem.

Am thinking along the lines of a gasket failure somewhere between the throttle body and cylinder head allowing air ingress thats not being measured by the maf.

Anyone got any other ideas or had similar problems?

Cheers :beerchug:

Well, after some further diagnosis, it turned up a fault code relating to the o2 sensor (which audi didnt see!). Changed sensor 2 (on the cat) and the wiring was melted and fused together....the hunting has stopped and the brakes work. MIL light then came on, indicating the other one was shot...replaced that and the light is still on (even after resetting it).

Has anyone had code P0038 show up before? It is related to the o2 sensors and am wondering if the fused wiring has now pushed the problem elsewhere...somewhere in the ECU maybe.

Car runs fine though.

Cheers
