To avoid having to wait 12 weeks for the red SE TSI 1.4 122BHP I wanted, my dealer offered me their demonstrator in silver with 2,500 miles on the clock for £13,500 & my current car (valued at £2,000). Is there any downside to buying a demonstrator or do cars not have to be "run-in" nowadays ?

Thanks.

That depends on how much you're saving compared to buying a new one with the same specs.

On a brand new car you'll probably be losing about £2k-3k in the first year or even more.

£13,500 + £2000 = £15,500

New costs £15,930.00 for standard spec.

If the ex-demo is standard spec then probably not worth getting, might as well order a new one unless you really can't wait.

I guess its a question of how desperate you are for the car, if you can wait and would like the exact spec then a factory order is the way forward, also it is worth looking at online brokers as "drive the deal" (By the way I have no relationship with them apart from being a very satisfied customer:p) is offering the standard spec of your car at £14760.68, they could also maybe source a car for you quickly!.
if you cant wait then you can use these figures to get the price down a bit more from your dealers.
Good luck;)

If you want a real good buy you might find dealers still have some of the old stock Mk 5 but with the full updated 122ps engine and 7 speed DSG gearbox identical to the Mk6. Some real deals going here.
