electric windows not working mk5 golf

Hi

I appear to have a problem with my electric windows on my mk5 golf, the windows will go down until i take my finger of the button but when i try to put them up they go down and then i have to put them up again this happens on both front windows,i have tried to reset them by holding the switch all the way to the bottom holding for 10 seconds then closing them and holding the switch at the top, i seam only to be able to reset the passenger side can anyone help?:confused:

it might be worth disconecting the battery for 15mins then reconnecting. then each window will need the limits set for the auto up and down, so push the switch till the window is full down and hold for 2 secs. then up and hold again. this should reset them.

If its still wrong then you need a fault code scan to see what's happening.

Hi Powerball,

Did you find out what was causing the problem with the windows on your golf, my Gf's MK5 golf is doing the same thing.. and it drives me nuts:aargh4:.

The VW dealer wanted to change all the window regulators but that seems a bit drastic and expensive.
