ABS ESP Fault

Could someone kindly advise where the ABS Unit is located on a Golf Mk 5 TDI - I need to get the Part Number in order to source a replavcement VW have quoted £1400!:zx11:

This is an increasingly common problem on Golf MkV and Tourans (they use the same pump). Many owners, including myself, have got VW to contribute between 40% and 70% of the cost depending on age/mileage/service history - have a look in the Touran thread.

Also, there's a poll on clubtouran.net under the Touran Technical (suspension, brakes & chassis) thread where almost 50 people have recorded the same problem.

You don't say how old etc your car is, but you may be able to use others' experience as evidence to put pressure on VW for a contribution. No sign of them issuing a recall, so good luck.
