S Reg Polo Door Lock Problem

Help - my S reg 4 door polo drivers door wont unlock! It will lock fine, but not unlock. the passengers door locks and unlocks fine. Before I bought it the car has had an alarm fitted as it kept going off but it was been disabled, (i suspect the central locking with it).

Electric windows etc all work fine.

Any ideas?
