Hi,

Recently bought an 2004 1.8t s-line. It has a symphony radio. Being the idiot i am the dealer didnt have the owners manual (but had the service manual). This means i dont have the radio code.

I heard somewhere that the radio code is only needed if the radio is fitted in another car and that if the radio belongs to that car, the radio recognises it and the code isnt needed. Anyone know if this is true?

Cheers

Thats correct. You'll only need the code if you want to fit the radio into another car.

Hi

Let me know if you want the code (not sure if it works but I have a piece of software that should give the code if you give me the serial number of the radio)

BTW, I have never tested this though!!!

I would dispute the info above. I have the original radio in my car that it was supplied with. Changed the battery and it asked for the code....

The dealer reckoned that although it should have been fine, some of them "forget" which car they should be associated with when the battery is disconnected.
