Hi,
I have an 2003 A4 Avant done 43k. I have always had it main dealer serviced but feel the time is right age and depreciation wise to move to a reputable mechanic. Audi is telling me the car is due for a new Cam belt and the thhught of what they might charge is overbearing. I live in Shepherds Bush and it would be great if anyone out there can give me some recommendations on where to take it?
Cheers
Paul

I think Audi are doing cambelts for about £330, prices just come down

Chris,
Looks like my timing is bad. I have chacked out Audi and £329 it is. Seems too good to turn down and at the same time retain my FASH. Thanks for taking time out to offer your services.
Cheers
Paul

Thanks Coolio for the tip. About time Audi pulled their head in and realised they could actually retain customers if they kept their prices in check.

Free MOT also so you could also get that done while you're at it, check out their website. Think you may want to get the wate rpump also done, think its about an extra £80.

Will do . So the water pump goes hand in hand with the cam belt or is it due at this stage of the cars life anyway?

I think the water pump is driven off the cambelt in some way. A kind of, while you're in there change that otherwise on its own it would cost more. I am sure someone who has better technical knowledge than me will explain. It may be less required on a diesel. It's not like everyone gets both done, I think it's probably very mixed opinions on doing the water pump as part of the cambelt change.

Depending on model/engine, the cambelts i do start at £220 all in(4 pots petrols). You get a full Contitech cambelt kit (including the relay rollers and hydraulic damper), KWP water pump(with metal impeller), 5L of G12 antifreeze, aux. drivebelts and diagnostic check to make shure all is fine ! Try and get that from dealer... The 330 quid quote from dealer only includes a belt and tensioner, everything else is extra ! I also do free service while at it... Cheers !
