front pads and disks

just had my front pads and disks changed the pads are not sitting flat on the disks do they have to wear in to go flat on the disks brake are working fine but mechanic says they have to wear in any ideas people car is audi a4 1.9 tdi b6 2004 thanks

New pads against new discs should be flat against each other. It's true they have to wear a little to bed in properly. Are both sides the same?

It is quite normal to get no contact patches which become corroded for a few hundred miles, they should soon bed in.
