The OEM satnav in an A4 will not play DVD's. The only way is by using a media adapter and an external DVD player (never available as factory fit option)

You dont say what age A4 your looking at or indeed which satnav unit it has (several were available). The highest spec version is the RNS-E and its pretty good IMO.

The Satnav won't play DVDs in any way unless modified or external adapter. The RNS-E is a great unit as mentioned above.

Does the RNS-E play DVDs.......?
I know it has memory card slots when the screen folds down but I assumed the disk slot was for CDs or DVDs..?

You CANNOT play DVD's in the slot in the RNS-E. Its for CD's or the NAV DVD only.
