Hi All,

I recently had a Coil Pack failure on cylinder 2 and the AA chap said they only fail because the Spark Plug electrode is worn and the Coil Pack has to work harder to jump the gap and they burn out. Is this correct and would anyone be able to tell me what Spark Plug I should use?

My car is a 2002 A4 B6 2.0 ltr petrol.

I dont know about that. I replaced all 4 coil packs after two of them died. Havent changed the spark plugs. Been almost a year and running fine so far.

I'm picking up 4 spark plugs after work from VW - £11.50 each!!! Available off eBay for the same price http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=260365024613 . Been looking at these Iridium ones... http://www.opieoils.co.uk/showproduct.aspx?ProductID=4223&SEName=denso-iridium-tough-spark-plug-vk20y

Apparently Renault advise that if a coil fails , the spark plugs should be changed if you are unsure of the condition or age as they can cause coils to fail. So the AA guy could well be right.
Guess it wont harm to change em to make sure.

I'll probably get some plugs tomorrow and replace them. Might also get 2 more coil packs to replace the old ones whilst I've got them unplugged too..:D

Thanks for your reply's guys :beerchug:
