Speedo not working - please help!!

My A4 1.9 TDi 130 bhp had a fire and has had a complete new interior, including dash and speedo head binnacle. However, my car is 03, and the dash was all from an 01 A4. Although everything else works on the car, the speedo, and consequently the milometer do not work. Audi have recoded the ABS module, as apparently the speedo is linked to it, but no joy!!

Any other suggestions gratefully received!!
