This morning my engine management light came on, long story short its my coolant temp sensor. The fan is now not cutting in so not using car at the moment. Is it difficult to change the sensor, and whereabouts is it located on a 2003 3.0 quattro. Any help appreciated;)

Oh, and another thing i forgot to mention, when the A/C is on, it cuts in and out, could this be related.

Hi

Im not sure if this will help but thought I'd share.

I had a similar problem recently. The engine management light came on, read codes and it showed up as Coolant Temp Sensor faulty. There are two coolant temp sensors. One at the back of the engine and one in the front: bottom right of the engine (radiator outlet). I got the rear one changed and it was okay for a few miles but the light came on again so got the front changed too and its been okay since.

I got the sensors replaced by a local Audi Specialist and it only took him 10 min to change. It appeared to be easy the way he done it. Make sure the car's cold if you decide to do it yourself.

I did not experience any faults with the aircon during the temp sensor issue.

Hope it helped in someway.

I have the rear temp sender to change with a new o-seal just wondering where exactly it is lol. A picture would be perfect but if you cant an explanation as to where it is would be just as good. Thanks in advance.

How much did it set you back?

I have the same problem, although it's not really a problem as the light has been on for 18 months now and has been a cause of no problem, it's more of an annoyance really.
