View Full Version : Heater nobs don't light up....

I have a 97R A4 1.8 and everything works fine, except when I put the lights on the heater nobs don't light up. :( The air recirculation button below them lights up so I was wondering if this is a bulb problem rather than a fuse problem and if it is a bulb problem should I take it to the garage or is it a simple job to replace? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Could be a dodgy connection. It could be that they are the tiny LED type illumination and is an electrical job to change them.

Have you tried a 'technical tap' to see it it works? The knobs on the Gf's Z3 stopped illuminating, quick tap and they've worked since. :D

Cheers Dave. I'll give it a try. I know tha this "method" works on my reg plate lights. :D

If the 97 is a B5 platform, this may work;

or

If it's not the B5 platform, it may help a bit ;)

Cheers mate. I don't know which will be the right one but I sure hope it's the first link as the second one sounds a bit more involved and the pics don't show. :)

Believe it or not it looks like the first one. I've pulled the nob out and will see if halfords have any bulbs in stock. Cheers mycarsavw.:beerchug:

Hi,

Have been looking on the Internet for replacement bulbs for my car's heater control lights, but can't seem to find them anywhere. Does anybody know of where to buy them, or another type of bulb that will do the same job for the passat?

Dealerships stock the bulbs as do a lot of online LED vendors.
