Does anyone know how to change from the long life variable to the fixed interval, service regime.

I have the 1.9 tdi 2005 diesel with 19,500 on the clock. genuine as excellent condition.

I have purchased the
Super VAG 5053 DIAGNOSTIC OBD 2 Scanner VW FAULT CODE
and expect it in the post soon.

Any help greatfully appreciated.

Simply start servicing the car regularly. My car was on longlife when I bought it from a mate. Ditched longlife right away after a poor condition oil filter was revealed. When I did mine I simply reset the service indicator and it defaulted to 360 days or 10k miles. I'm sure that is the norm if reset manually.

I now drain the oil and change filter every 6 months. Every 12 months for pollen, air filter and approx 18 months for fuel filter.

Brake and clutch fluid replacement every 18 - 2years. I check under the car when performing oil drain, check hoses and look for leaks.

Every spring the brake caliper are removed all round and checked for wear and free movement with a clean up. Rid the winter salt.

Other than the timing belt most things are straight forward. I've serviced my A4 for the last 4 years and it runs sweet!! ;)

To be correct the dash needs to be recoded for fixed interval servicing so that the warnings come up correctly. This can be done with VAG-COM or something similar.

Ah ok. I may have just been lucky. I did change in vagcom at the time to 182 days or 5k, which has worked nicely. :D

Oh and not to mention correcting the over easger MPG DIS!! It was 15% high!!

If you have a full version of VCDS 805 ish you can go into the coding and a helper screen will show you if it needs recoding to fixed intervals.

Hi there
Please be kind enough to enlightem me as to how you did it?
I just bought the VAG 5053 so I can read and set the blocks and codes etc.
I just dont see from the thousands of blocks which is the ones to change.
Thanks

I can give you details as I made notes in excel. So many adaptions and codes that it's best to keep a track. I'll get them from my laptop at home and post details tonight. send me a PM with your'e email (if you like) and I shall send you some handy word docs I've got also. Shows you what you can do with VCDS>

I dearly hope you can help me through this.
I am Tech savvy but dont know how to interpret the code and blocks without a guide as to what block is which. If you have some help hints I would be ever in your favour.
Thanks
Dave
