Got an Audi A4 2.5TDi Multitronic Cabriolet on a "04" plate. The radio has stopped working and only crackles. Sometimes it will come back on, but only for a couple of seconds when going over a bump in the road. The CD works fine. Is this likely to be an aerial tuner problem? If so where is it located?

aerials used to be located in the boot lid

Sounds like wiring too, have you tried a CD? If not check the wires to the speakers or the plug 'out' of the stereo going to the speakers.

you need an aerial repair wire from audi and conector plugs into the ZF input of the left aerial amp in the boot lid then goes to rear of the radio the amps never fail UNLESS there wet parts cost around 30 quid and you can only get them from audi
its a break in the wire but u cant see the break iv done 3 of my own and know ov at least 6 7 other with this problem

I have the same problem and took the boot trim off to have a look round.

“Photo Car Aerial 001.png” shows the amp and, what I assume is the aerial. All the connections seem sound. With the radio on (quite loud, so I could hear it) I pushed the connectors and generally wiggled them, but the radio was still not getting reception or good reception.

So next I checked the cable. I held “Car Aerial 002.png” Cable A firmly whilst moving “Car Aerial 003.png” Cable B around. In certain positions the radio kicked in clear as crystal. So it looks like a wire is broken in Cable B.

I did not follow the path of these wires into the car, but does this wiring section connect inside the boot to a connector block or does it run all the way to the back of radio? If it is a short run, how easy would this be to replace it?

Does not sound too easy to route the cables from the boot lid to the back of radio though! :(

...but the cable(s) must go through the car to get to the boot? Would I not have to remove the cable(s) completely (radio to amp) and then replace, reroute the cable through the car? Or am I missing something?

dont remove old wires
get the new wire through the rubber from boot to car useing an old wire coathanger etc
run new wire under back seat and along botton ov door plastics you dont need to remove they hold in place and out of sight work it up and run behing glovebox to radio
