Do you have other VW/Audi/Seat/Skodas in the family?

The cheapest thing to do is buy a cable, will probably cost £20 from Gendan, and purchase the fully registered 409.1 software from Ross Tech at $99.

However, if you would need VAG-COM in future on a 2004 onwards model (well, most 2004 onwards VAGs) then you need a different cable, most likely the Hex-Can cable as seen on their website.

Rob. The clue is the word "diagnosis". If you really want to do diagnosis you need a vag-com set up. If you just want to switch off a light, read a code and then spend hours trying to work out what it means, then a hand held will do. In this field you really do get what you pay for.
